Yeah, it needs clearly explaining to her. It is perhaps that she doesnt want to face up to it, but perhaps a letter from a doctor would be helpful. Perhaps she isnt taking you seriously, but she needs to be made to realise that this is important.

I agree, she needs to understand how bad you feel, at the moment she may well think that you're just being a typical teenager

I have tried, I try to start the conversation casually, like 'mum, I'm feeling really tired, I've been feeling like that a lot lately' and then I get 'oh its just your age' or 'your too lazy' . I tell her that my back is hurting or my throat is sore and she will just say ' do you ever stop moaning' or 'have you ever not got something wrong with you?' She is never nice to me or shows me any sympathy so I just don't bother telling her anymore

Maybe rather than a casual conversation you could try to organise a situation, lunch or something. Or like Steve suggested a letter from your GP or yourself.

I know you have tried really hard and it's fustrating for you but I know that I had been miserable etc for most of my childhood and it seemed like no one cared. When I finally spied to her it was amazing all the things that came out the woodwork and how she never fully appreciated how I felt.

The doctor has told my mum face to face that this is not normal teenage behaviour and she still won't believe it.

Not meaning to be nosey but does your mum have problems of her own?  Maybe she doesn't know how to deal with your problems.

Mu mum knew I had problems, but didn't know how to deal with it, it was simpler for her to brush over them and act like she didn't care.

I don't think she has problems I think its just that she has never done 'serious' with any of her children. She also had a mother who was about as sympathic as a brick wall so maybe she just generally doesn't know how to be sympathic.

That is maybe why then, if she was brought up by someone who could not show sympathy, she obviously finds it hard.

I guess so, and when people try to tell her that she is not being very understanding of how bad I feel she takes it out on me

 &*( Your mum probably feels like she is a bad mum when others are saying things to her about you.  She then takes it out on you as she see's you as the cause. Its not right to do this but it sounds like your mum is struggling to deal with this situation.

I agree with Shaz.

When I was first diagnosed my mum tried to dismiss it, she said it was just the latest thing and I didn't need to see a psychiatrist. I had to be quite firm and make her listen and really point things out to her, then she realised that yes it did explain everything. She blamed herself for a while and as Shaz said this is because she felt like a bad mum and wanted to dismiss it rather than accept the truth.

I guess that must be why, I wish she wouldn't though. Its hard enought as it is without getting any support at home
