New and not sure what to say...
« on: August 08, 2012, 02:32:30 PM »
Hi,

Im suffering from depression for the second time in my life... Im currently taking Prozac and its making me sick and exhausted, is this normal?

Bit shy and dont really know what else to say right now?

I just wanted to speak with other people who are in the same boat as me as nobody around me really knows much about depression and are just telling me to 'snap out of it'

If only it was so simple though, makes me mad, but then i appreciate that people dont understand something they have never had to understand before...

Anyway hopefully speak to some of you soon

Hi and welcome  *()

Unless someone has suffered with depression they have no idea what its like and its not possible to 'snap out of it' :(

I didnt have trouble with Prozac but it stopped working for me, it might be worth considering having a word with your doctor if those symptoms petsist

Totally agree with Zaf.  Some meds don't suit everyone. Maybe you might be better on something different.  Best talk to the Doc early on before you're on it too long.

Hi there and welcome   +_+

You are amongst friends here - it's a friendly forum and there's lots of support.

I had some meds that made me very nauseous and ill. It's worth talking to your Dr to see if there's something that suits you better.

I felt sick for the first 3 to 4 weeks on Prozac then it eased.

I'm right there along with you. It seems that all I do is bring people down. I fail to get better even though I take loads of drugs and see the mental health team 2-3 times a week.  The self destruct button is my best buddy at the moment - sad eh ?!?!

One day at a time though ill get there and im sure you all will to, but any coping strategies that have been tried and tested are much appreciated xx

I also worry about dragging people down and often feel guilty for not being on the same 'high' as everyone else.  It's torture.  I'm sure your Fiance is only too happy to support you.

Your still on very early days with the A.D.  Most side effect subside once you're a bit used to the AD.  Best wishes, it takes time.

Thanks for all the advice, the sickness and headaches have subsided a bit (hooray) but have been replaced by tearyness (is that even a word!?) And I'm still really tired all of the time, all I want to do is sleep then I'm away from how bad I feel about life...
