Overwhelmed
« on: June 22, 2012, 01:56:23 PM »
Does anyone feel like this?  I do.  It is like life is so endlessly complicated and unpredictable that I don't feel at ease being part of it.

Me too. I would say I am generally overwhelmed. It's a tough place to be and means I can't cope.  ()(

I think it is because we think too much, ruminate all the time, put ourselves down so much so that it becomes supposedly natural.  I can't do anything in this frame of mind except procrastinate or get lost in another world for a while.  Somehow I always end up on the Daily Mail website by default when I have a brain freeze, don't ask my why!  I get so despondent at all the celebrity stories that are so non-newsworthy; TOWIE star gets a new car or other such rubbish that it seems that is all people want to aspire to.   I'm sure that isn't the case but it feels like it.

I remember when I was younger and used to watch Blue Peter, every now and then they would have a youngster on playing the piano to concert standard.  Afterwards when they asked them about playing they would always add something superficial like 'apart from playing the piano you must like normal kid's stuff?'.  That sort of thing.

Rant over, lol!

hi beetzart
being overwhelmed must be very common for people with depression because it seems quite a lot of people suffer from it personally i find that the news and so on can make it worse for me and i agree what seems to make the news is not news at all it makes me sad that so many young people just aspire to be famous one of the things my therapist has commented about is that i over think a subject to much so theres probably a lot of truth in what you say

Ruminating is a massive problem ! And I agree that self deprecating behaviour is habit forming and a big issue when trying to motivate ourselves.

This is part of why I am overwhelmed:

Normal life, while important, just seems incapable of matching the beauty that is out there.

The universe is amazing and wonderful, some of the nebulars (should that be something different as a plural?)  are truly stunning but to see the northern lights, an erupting volcano, a beautiful sunset or even a meadow full of wild flowers can be pretty special too :)

Some physicists think each quantum event, such as a thought, creates a new universe. In that way, Beetzart, the universe around you might be totally yours. There is no need to feel small or unimportant.  _+_

Of course, Zaf and having another thought the beauty of earth is quite something, even the beauty that humans have created.  It does make me wonder what other species, if there are such things, in the Universe have produced.   Did they have the same sort of music, as the theory of music must apply at any point in the cosmos.  Or art and literature.

I heard a good statement from Dan Dennett, it is equally mind boggling if life exists elsewhere in the Universe as it is if we are the only ones.

I agree, Whiteadder, Many Worlds Interpretation it is called.  Interesting but utterly impossible to comprehend, for me anyway!

Its all truly fascinating Beetzart, some say everything is clear to us when we die, somehow part of the lure to me of this all is the wonder and uncertainty.

yes, that is so true :)

Try not to think about such huge stuff.  Concentrate on the day to day things that affect you. If we think about the universe it can all get overwhelming and we wonder what the point is! I agree things like TOWIE are pointless trivia, so think more about what is personal to you.  I don't watch any of that dross about ghastly chavs, it's just not worth it!
It changes

I don't think we will ever understand, or at least not the masses.  It'll either be too complicated or people just won't want to know.  That saddens me greatly.  Although I don't think anything happens when we die.  It'd be like being under a general anaesthetic.

Does the amount of information don't know increase when new knowledge is found, or visa versa?
