But, I think it's good you have the insight and knowledge (obvious intelligence) to search for the answers to your questions.  I would find it hard to believe that the darkest moments of my MH are down to "my perspective".  It's the same with women who suffer PND, a known imbalance of hormones which cause depression, I believe.  So, some, if not all, forms of depression also include physiological factors

I've read somewhere that people with PD have slightly different brain structure to that of a "normal" individual.  I believe in years to come, they will discover certain common physiological aspects to depression, if they haven't already

Recently, as I have been exploring BPD, I often can hardly believe that this condition has had such a major impact in my life for as far back as teenage years, maybe even before.  Being diagnosed was such a relief.  I could match some of the symptoms of this condition/illness to some of the most problematic times in my life.
