Feeling awful
« on: September 05, 2011, 05:00:11 PM »
Hi all,

I'm really badly struggling, and have been going downhill for around 2 weeks. Have had to fight to get through today, making myself do things. Feel ready to break down now. I'm a depression / ocd sufferer.

Right now I feel sick, flat and pretty emotionless :( so so sad. Ive got a lovely little boy, a nice home and good life....yet I feel in so much despair inside.

I just don't know what else to say....

Ooba x

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Have you spoken to anyone about how you feel?

Have you told the GP how you are feeling recently?  Maybe some talking therapies might help?

i feel like this often, today being one of those days. i know it seems wrong to feel how you feel when you take into account the good things that you have in your life, like your little boy. don't be hard on yourself about this. accept that you feel the way you do, and that it's something that has been a part of you for a while.

speaking to somebody is the best bet i agree. even if it's posting on here and getting a response. i find that reading encouraging words help no end when i feel at a loss.

Welcome Ooba
I can sympathise with you re having depression even when things are going well, my doctor didn't understand and wanted me to stop takings ad's when my financial situation improved (slightly) but I had to tell him that my depression isn't always dependant on my situation.

It is good to chat on here and realise you are not alone. The flat feeling is dreadful. It is not our fault, as Alstare said seeing the doc again or someone you can talk to who understands these feelings,
Keep hopeful things will improve with help

Ooba depression is rarely a symptom of exactly what is going on in your life at that time. If it were, we would all be able to make some simple changes and get out of this hell hole of a state. It is very normal and very confusing to see a glaring contrast between what you've 'got' and how you feel. All part of the depression. If you can, try to tell us som more about how you are feeling. How this makes you feel.

I dont think anyone that hasnt suffered from depression can have any idea how it feels to know you have a nice home and a good life but still feel so desperately and deeply unhappy, alone, and often terrified to do what 'normal' people find no problem.

Just being able to tell fellow sufferers how I'm feeling and getting the enormous amount of encouragement from people here helps me immensely.  Hopefully it will help you too xx
