risperidone (risperidal)

MY psychiatrist has started me on this med. I have no say over weather or not I take it and to be honest I am NOT happy about taking it.
Has anyone had any experiances with this medication any information would be greatly appreciated. I have all the medical info about it but I would really like to hear about others experiances while taking it.

Sorry smirfy I havent, is it this particular drug you're worried about or having to take meds?

just the idea of being on the meds does concern me a little but I don't have a choice about taking this particular drug and I'm not sure why. I dont know much about the drug other than the fact that it's an antipsychotic. I have researched it and all I keep finding are negative things about it

It wouldnt have been prescribed if your medics didnt think it was appropriate, is it possible to discuss your worries about it sometime soon with them?  I think its pretty par for the course if you look up any drug, I hate even reading the instructions in the box which tell you all about the possible side effects

I'm on an anti psychotic but because it's also an anti anxiety med too. Maybe they have similar reasons. They obviously feel it's necessary.

are they bright green, i think i might have been on those for a little while,(not too sure it was them though) as an anti psychotic.  want if they are, i dont think i was on them for long as they didn't work for me, but everyone is different

Sorry didn't mean to imply there was something wrong with it being an anti psychotic if that's what it had been prescribed for.

i didnt see it in that way, its prescribed for many things.

lol I thought it was funny so don't beat yourself up. It is an antipsychotic although I dont see myself as being psychotic I think its because one of the other meds I am now on can cause you to become psychotic. hmm I wonder If I will start rattling when I walk?
also it is bright green and I keep thinking I might wake up one morning and look like shrek lol

I know what you mean about rattling, I take 6 tablets a day.

I think I am going to get my psychiatrist to throw another one into my cocktail of meds as I really need something to help me sleep but Im not sure if Im taking to many meds for her to do that and she might tell me not to rely to heavily on meds. I dont have another appointment until next week now so I have a couple of days to think about things.
