Matt - please don't be putt off if people don't reply instantly, we all have our own issues we are battling with and it may well be that not a lot of people are online today....

You say you can't go to your GP? Is this because of work/cant get an appointment? If you think you are depressed then I would seriously encourage you to try and get an appointment as a matter of urgency. Depression is not something that will just go away if you leave it or try and pretend its not there -believe me, I tried!

If you need anti-depressants/sleeping tablets anything like that on prescription then each prescription will cost you £7.40 - unless you live in Scotland or are exempt for any other reason. If you need to get a lot of prescriptions (i.e if you are trying to find the right AD for you) then it would be worthwhile looking into a Pre-paid prescription certificate.

If your GP decides to refer you to a mental health team then you shouldn't have to pay for any treatment you receive from them, it is the NHS though, so don't expect appointments to happen overnight!

Good luck  :)
This too shall pass.

welcome, firstly try not to get frustrated by the length of time it takes to get a reply, as munchroom says we all have issues to deal with

i didnt go to my gp for ages and tried to just hide it and ignore it, the sooner you get help the better in my opinion, dont worry about going to the gp or any mental health professionals, most are nice people and should be able to give you a lot of help.  if you go on medication then you will need to be patient with it and listen to what the gp says.

hopefully you get the help you need soon, come back here too, we all help each other out :)
If you think things can't get worse it's probably only because you lack sufficient imagination.

Matt welcome to the forum.  Just to put you in the picture, this is a forum and the members on here all unwell with depression or are seeking help dealing with loved ones who have depression.  We all try and help each other on here, and this forum is not manned by a moderator full time as this person also suffers too.  We all draw from each others experience, so we don't feel we are on our own.

If you feel like you will harm yourself, ring the samaritan's or lifeline out of hours.  Otherwise it is best you see your GP, no matter what you may think they are there to help you and get you the help you need.  Believe me when I say I denied having anything wrong with me, and this probably meant I let everything get to a bad stage.  Also you could contact mindful help, they have offered their services on this forum before, you can e-mail them.  Good luck and hopefully you will post and help others in the near future with your experiences

Matt, I've removed your second post as it was inappropiate.  As the others have already stated you wont always get a quick response as we all have our own problems but at the same time we are all here to be suppotive.  Personally I haven't had time to read all the post over the past few months.  My mum died in April and my hubby and I have had to deal with medical health problems as well which has included hospital appointments plus my husband was in hospital overnight on Monday.

 .>,  and hi.
