Good to be here
« on: June 17, 2011, 01:31:01 PM »
Hi there, it's nice to come across this site. I suppose I've suffered from depression along with anxiety for as far back as I can remember. I'm 30 years old now, have been on various ssri's, i'm now on paroxetine, 20mg, used to be 30mg. I've been considering going back up but I really don't like the side effects, i.e feeling like a zombie, weight gain and sexual problems. I used to have psychotherapy when I was working but I'm unemployed right now and cannot afford to go private. I'm on a waiting list on the NHS but my doctor told me it can take up to 18 months.
I used to have an alcohol problem, I'm currently 2 months sober with the help of SMART recovery online, which I've found has helped me more than AA. Despite now being sober I can feel a lot of unwanted emotions returning, i.e depression, panic and anger. I'm hoping this site can help while I'm waiting for therapy.
I'm also a very spiritual person, but not religious. I've taken to reading many spiritual books as well as meditating, usually twice a day, though sometimes when feeling everely depressed, meditation isn't a good idea.

I look forward to becoming accostomed to the site and look forward to speaking to you all.

Greg

Hi Greg and welcome  :)

Feel free to post anything at anytime - we're all here to help and 'listen' and sometimes your postings can help other people if they are going through similar things and feeling very isolated.

Take care

This too shall pass.
