I know I'm not alone.....
« on: May 18, 2011, 08:39:13 AM »
Hi, I'm a 50 year old man, I have been battling my depression for a long time. I now feel better than I have for years BUT....... I made the decision to come off Venlafaxine. I reduced the dose from 150mg to 75mg without a problem but since I stopped altogether last Friday I have been seriously struggling. The withdrawal symptoms are so difficult to live with and my mood has plummeted.
I am determined to see this through but wondered if sharing the load might help a bit. I'd love to hear from anyone who knows what I'm going through as it is so obvious that most people just don't understand and think I'm overexaggerating. I feel so low at the moment but I know what I want, just need a little help to get there.
Thanks

George

Hi MyAimIsTrue

I'm only 49 but I understand exactly where you're coming from. I'm on Venlafaxine too so think I understand some of the benefits that it will have given you, but you say that you decided to come off, wow, that's great. I would imagine that things are difficult at the moment as you have just come off it, hopefully you will pick up soon but if not I'm sure the doc will understand and put you back on, possibly at a lower dose to see how it goes.

I find that sharing the load is tremendous so hope that it will be the same for you. Fingers crossed that your decision to come off was right (I bet it was!!!) but if not then we are always here for you talk to about it.

Look forward to hearing from you soon

George
