Hi from another newbie :)

Found this forum when looking for information about Mirtazapine, as I started taking it on Saturday.  The side effects are quite bad and I wanted to know about the experience other people have had with this drug.  I have arranged an appointment with my GP for Friday in case the problems don't improve - fingers crossed it is just an adjustment thing!

I'm afraid I don't know about that particular med, but all have side effects to begin with the time to worry is if they are intolerable or make you feel considerably worse (the first I was put on made me feel suicidal - NOT good!). After a couple of months on the one I'm on now, things settled down and I've been on it for a good few months now and have no effects :)

Good call checking back in with the GP though - they can advise if your effects are 'normal'.

Hi Toots welcome to the forum, I am Mertazapine 45mg.  It normally takes 4-6weeks for the meds to settle into the system.  In the meantime if you feel suicidal (this is always the advice from the healthcare team for any antid's) keep yourself safe and contact them asap.  I take this at night as it also helps with the sleep problem.  Take care and keep safe.
