An Update

Hi.
I came here feeling pretty bad a month ago.
Just to update, I went to the doc who gave me fluoxetine and told me to come back in a month. My health visitor came to see me today (she dealt with my pnd) saying she had been sent by the doc. After chatting with her she thinks I have had issues for a long time before my children were born. Shes going to explain to my doc about my history and suggest referral for councelling. I'm terrified but massively relieved at the same time!

I have no idea what to expect though?
If anyone could give me an idea id appreciate it? I feel sick thinking about it.

I does sound a bit scary but believe me it's not.

This was what happened with me, but it varies from doc to doc:

What will probably happen during the first meeting with the doc/councillor is you'll discuss recent mood swings and the possible causes. Maybe a talk about your past too. He'll ask lots of personal questions but you must be open and honest so he can give a correct diagnosis.
The doc/councillor will probably give you a diary or notepad and get you to put in day to day moods and report any incidents and mis-haps and how you reacted to them.
This will take maybe 3 weeks of diary input so he can see a broad time of events and moods.

After that, the treatments you get will be based on what you've told him and the diary results.
Again, be totally honest so he can give a correct diagnosis
