Hi.......not really sure what to say.
I think I have suffered with depression with many years.....and I think its a part of me, I don't know who I am without it in my life one way pr another....
How dismal is that?    :scared003:

Hi thanks for replying.............No I'm not on any medication. I tried Citalopram for a couple of months because I was very depressed and to help with my social anxiety. It didn't help me at all. I don't think drugs will work for me.....

Anti depressants don't work for everybody.  I have been on citalopram which helped for a while then stopped working.  When I first 'officially' got diagnosed (2005) I was given an anti depressant but I can't remember what it was now. That was another that worked but was gradually increased due to depression creeping back.  Eventually I felt like a zombie so stopped it.  The doctor I had (we had moved by this time) was one of these that doesn't believe in depression and won't prescribe medication.  Her attitude was to suggest going to Relate and I said no to that as I knew I needed specialist counselling and Relate said they couldn't recommend free counselling as they didn't know who could help.  The unhelpful doctor said that I would just have to deal with ir.  I have suffered with depression most of my life and knew exactly what sort of help I needed.

I take Sertraline now which helps much better.  I still get bad days but not so often.  It's worth you trying a different anti depressant which may help.

Pip is eight, antidepressents dont work for everyone, but keep on mind there are a plethora of anti d's out there and one of the others may work for you
it is also not uncommon for some people to be on a combination of meds.
the main thing is to keep your doc in the loop, they can only go on what you tell them.
