In a Dark Place
« on: April 26, 2014, 09:41:48 PM »
I'm having a really hard time lately...depressed, sad (not the same thing) crying a lot.

I have a therapist who is very good. I see her weekly.  I just can't shake this...thing.

I'm using all my coping skills and keeping busy. I go to my volunteer job at the zoo, which I love, once a week.  I read, watch TV, go for walks, play with my dear birds, who mean the world to me.   I'm doing my best, but I remain terribly depressed.

Aw Fig, sending you lots of hugs. It is a very tiring and lonely journey with depression.
So glad you have a good therapist. Makes such a difference. I credit my recovery to very good therapy (and support from loved ones as well as meds).
I can highly recommend posting on this forum. Very therapeutic and cathartic. Lots of very supportive people too.
How long have you been depressed?

Big  for you Fig.  Depression is a truly awful illness.  As PaulaJo has said already this forum has been a great help and comfort to me as I don't feel alone here.

Are you taking any prescribed medication for your depression?

Thanks for the replies....it means alot.

I've had depression since I was a very young child. I was fortunate to have understanding, insightful parents  who got help for me.

I am on medication....Celexa, Buspar and Topamax.

It does help to come here, where there's people who understand!

It is a tough road and so remember to be kind to yourself. Often the hardest thing to do when we are depressed, but so important to attempt.

I have found the journalling helps me when I am very low.
