Thought I would introduce myself as it's the polite thing to do.

My name is Cory (as my username suggests).

I have been dealing with my depression for many years now - but I would say I'm pretty stable these days (although I've had a minor replase recently - which is now ending).  Many of my friends have little to no understanding of depression or the way it can restrict even a basic functioning of life.  My aim is really to talk with more people who have similar experiences as me and also to try and support others.  As I'm fully aware of how lonely an illness it can be at times.

ive been living with depression knowingly for the past 4/5 years but I suspect ive had it since I was 7 (parents split). Its nice to see you wanting to help others and meet like minded people. another reason why im here too so welcome to the family!

Welcome, it does help just knowing there are others 'out there' that understand because of suffering with depression themselves .... oh and as my username suggests it's a shortened version of my name

I hope you find help here. There is certainly the potential for it. I don't need to explain a user name. I decided very early on that I would regularly be getting depressed and didn't give a sh*t who knew it. My real name suits me fine.
