ECT

Hi everyone -

I relapsed about a year ago and things have gone from bad to worse!! :-[ :-[ Been in bed for nearly 3months solid with the exception of going to the doctors and hospital appointments!

On my last visit to the psycharist he changed my tablets once again to some new one which has only really been about for a few years. This is about the millionth time in the past year my tablets have been changed - i just feel like a ginuea pig!!! So anywhay hes suggested ECT as the next step with the entention that in 6 weeks if things aren't any better it would start! I really dont know much about it? I've been doing some research on ECT and from what I've read so far think i would rather be admitted full time that go through that twice a week. Plus I only know 2 people who have had ECT before and one of the committed suicide in the end despit it all. So really don't know what to do?!?!?!?!?!?!?

On the other hand I am really really really fed up with the tablets - none of them are doing me any good - i keep thinking when i can go to Tesco and buy a pint of milk then they're working! (Shopping online is my new best friend!! lol ) Peeved comes to mind! All I know is i just can't take it any more I cant live like this but I just can't shift it.

So anyway any advise on ECT would be much appreciated?

Cheers
 ;)

Hi People welcome to the forum.
You sound like you have a lot of fight in you and enough to kick the depression, when i was younger i felt the same i had enough of feeling depressed and the anger built up everyday, it was enought to sort myself out and i hope it is for you too.
I have never heard of ECT so sorry cant give any advice on it but i hope you feel better soon.

Hi People welcome to the forum, sorry cannot help either but just know the actress that plays Liz in Corrie, had ECT treatment to overcome her depression earlier in the year.  Electro Convulsive Therapy, you need to ask questions, go away and then ask them again about sucess rate.  Sorry can't be of more help, take care
