They send me a copy every time they send a report to my GP.  Believe me is going to regret this - i am going to the patients complaint support group and insist on a hearing. If nothing else happens he will have to sit and hear what it os like to have mental ill health and be treated badly by someone who was supposed to help. I am not just angry for me, but for everyone in my situation. He must earn over £60,000 a year. He didn't read my notes. He was rude and he has undone 3 years of hard work.

Leo... every time I see my Psychiatrist, she writes to my GP with a brief summary of our meeting and sends a copy to me.  If you are under a CMHT and Psychiatrist, you should also have a written care plan, which I insisted on.

Iggy, I know only too well how it is to feel aggrieved by the actions of a thoughtless Psychiatrists.  It seems they are renowned for it.  Standing up and clearly stating your feelings, if nothing else, does develop a better understanding of your needs and expectations.  However, from experience, I know how frustrating and infuriating this process can be.   In the end I had to give up the fight for my own sanity.  Nevertheless, it did me many favours in the future contact with the CMHT

I know it will be hard but I am going to make him meet with me and hear me.  I will end it at that. I have no further interest beyond that. If he is still working in Leicestershire at that point - he will hear me. He will have to retire or leave the county to ignore my complaint. I may be ill but stupid I am not.

Sorry to hear of your trouble, iggyelvis.  I can sympathise, having had a bad experience with a psychiatrist around 4 years ago. hated the guy at the first meeting because we were going to change my meds, and he stopped me mid sentence to tell me time was up, then wanted to schedule the next appointment a few weeks into the future.    I was so angry about it, i just stopped the meds I was on to force the situation; otherwise I'd have been another month on Citalopram and he had already mentioned cutting down at a ridiculously slow rate of change so that it'd take me a couple of months to get off the stuff after the next appointment.
I felt angry, abandoned, let down and adrift at the entire system, so I had to take control of the situation.  I hope that you can regain some dignity and control.  give 'em hell!

Good for you Iggy. If people do not speak up he will be allowed to continue doing this. If he has done this to you then he has probably upset countless others :(.

I am a great believer in standing up especially in the MH services.  If nothing else, it has helped get me a new Psychiatrist, probably one of the best CPN's with a solid "care plan".

I've heard loads of bad reports about off hand psychiatrists and shoddy CMHT's.  I used to also think they were mistaking my MH for being stupid; a bit dim and not really on this planet.

We can only change what we stand up for!!  Good luck Iggy

thanks everyone for your support. i agree with your points - many have had all had bad mental health workers and been made to feel like it is out fault. I also think that someone who hands out bad practice is someone who does as a matter of course.

my complaint has been lodged

Where's the like button?
Affectus, qui passio est, desinit esse passio simulatque eius claram et distinctam formamus ideam.

Emotion, which is suffering, ceases to be suffering as soon as we form a clear and precise picture of it.

CaptK... what do you mean "like button"?  Do you mean like on Amazon when you click "I like this"?  The Forum doesn't have one of those
