Furious about CAMHS' refusal to do anything

Second time I have been to CAMHS (child and adolescent mental health services) this year. Again they just fobbed me off with a load of crap about being worried about school work and university. That's the least of my problems I actually don't worry about either of those things but they don't listen to a word I say. In fact, this time I got even less advice than last time, and do know what they told me to do last time? They told me to "take more risks" what sort of advice is that? Yeah, nice one.

So now I am stuck once again because if they wont do anything what am I supposed to do? OK so I have been referred to an ME specialist but that won't really help the fact that I am probably depressed as well. I can't win with these people.

CAMHS dont get me started my son is going through the motions with CAMHS and psycologists and they haven't been any help with his behaviour (sexual and suicidal thoughts) they fob us off with the 'Oh its his hormones' possibly is, however if he carrys on the way he is going he will end up doing something stupid  &*&

Errgh I'm sorry you are having so many problems with them as well, glad to know I am not alone x 

I don't know what I am going to do about it, I really don't. There is nowhere else for me to go, and whats the point of begging the doctor for another referral? So that I can wait around month for another appointment? The be told to 'take more risks?' I don't think so.

sounds like your case manager at CAMHS is a real plonker, if they wont listen to you and refuse to do anything, can you ask to see another member of the team?

I was never taken seriously as a juvenile.

i can understand that, there was / is too much of 'they are young' they will grow out of it'

they need to find and address the issues as soon as possible

Well thats the thing, they never take me seriously. But I have seen two different teams of people there now on two different occasions and both have refused to do anything. I am hoping that they send all those forms to school again like they did last time, because the teacher that will get them this time will sort them out thats for sure because she is not happy
