Heavy feeling?
« on: September 07, 2012, 12:25:28 AM »
I can't find the right words to explain it... I've never seen a doctor, this is the first step I've taken for any adivse and reading other peoples comments I can really relate to them. The feeling I had today- Weak, heavy feeling on my shoulders and my chest, I get slightly panicy but try and focus on my breathing to calm down, I couldnt stop crying- I felt really really emotional, and when my friend phoned me I just didnt want to respond. I felt completely blank. Is it worth seeing a doctor? It does really help talking to people but its not something I want to do when I have my blank moments. Does any of this make sense...

Hi Marie, perfect sense, you're describing just how I've been feeling recently and these are very common signs that could indicate depression. It's definitely worth seeing your doctor - there are things that can help x

I'm worried incase I'm being silly, but thats typical of me and my way of just getting on I guess. I don't want to be laughed at when I sit there face to face to someone decribing how I feel- when it comes to it I don't know what to say and I get a bit lost... But I'll give it a go! x

Hello Marie, as Hopeful has shown, these feelings DO Come. and Part of this is often underestimating your own importance. It's real, I'm afraid. Don't let anyone who HASN'T suffered from this how you should feel. Your feelings are personal to you and can't be dismissed.( God, I sound like such a po-faced old Git!) Best wishes.  +-_

You sound depressed. Heaviness is a symptom of major depression. Definitely see a doctor.

Heavy... boy do I know that feeling.

I sometimes feel like i smothered by heavy gloomy cloud. Its tends to affect the front of my head and makes me feel almost numb. When I'm anxious I get strange feelings too, like blood rushing around my body and my head feels like it is fizzing?!

I need to go visit my GP but I keep putting it off. I keep kidding myself that I can handle it, well I guess I can in a way as I've been like this for years. I dont want a GP to put me on pills and I'm also scared about my condition becoming common knowledge amongst friends and family. Stupid really I know. I prefer to stay trapped in my own crazy world as I cant faith the truth and what might happen.

Good luck and I hope you can find some answers.

I was meant to go today but I thought no no... I'm being silly, lets get on. But then on the other hand I feel like I need to just to see if anything can help, my situation doesnt help, I've been ranting on another post about my mum. I know once I'm out of this situation I will be happier, but I need something to get me by. I wouldnt tell my mum about anything like this because she would just laugh at me and I dont want her to see another weakness that she can take advantage of. x

I can relate to these feelings too. I often get the heaviness in my head too.

Going to the doctors could really help. I worried about how I was going to explain all of the jumbled up mess that was inside my head but in the end I just sat there and cried for half an hour  ::) A good Dr will know what questions to ask.

Good luck xx
This too shall pass.
