HI
« on: August 23, 2012, 02:32:58 PM »
Hi
I am new to this forum and decided to join after following for a few days. I have suffered from depression for around 7 years, luckily it was a mild form of depression and controlled by a low dosage of anti depressants but within the last 6 months I seem to have spiralled further down. I became addicted to sleeping tablets and then to tramadol which caused me to have several seizures. I have been referred to some different organisations to help support me and I have now not taken anything for 15 days, Im am feeling much better and clearer in my head and my depression seems to be better, I dont feel as low as I did a few weeks ago, Im feeling more positive and trying to move forward in my life, to not dwell on things that have happened in the past and to accept that I cant change the past and things that I have done, I am trying to focus on the future and to have a fresh start. I am a teacher and have abrad for 5 years and in a week I will be moving to Italy to teach so I have joined and online CPT course as I cant continue in the UK as I wont be here and I wanted to join this forum to know that I have some support when I am away from my family and my local GP but I feel ready for this move and trying to stay positive and focused.

So anyway just wanted to say hi and I hope to become a regular member of your forum.

Hi Lily…  +-_  welcome to the Forum and thanks for sharing what’s going on for you at the moment.

I also had a Diazepam addiction many years ago, so can appreciate how very difficult that was for you.  At first the drug seems to alleviate those torturous emotions, but underneath, it's only exacerbating the fundamental problems.  Plus, when we’re always stoned on downers, it seems to zap every last ounce of fighting power.

What you say about not being able to change the past is very true.  In many ways, neither can we do much to change current situations, but being so positive for a different future will take you a long way.

The CBT course online sounds good.  Do you need to pay for this?  This Forum is ideal for anonymously sharing whatever you want.  I hope it will be a positive influence and be able to support you through the coming months, especially during your move to Italy.  At least this can be a consistent support wherever you are, eh?

Best wishes

Ezel
