what help is available?
« on: August 05, 2012, 06:55:23 PM »
Hi,

I have recently joined this forum and i am unsure if i feel capable of going back to work (im a chef and the thought of going into another kitchen makes me feel very anxious and stressed out)

I am thinking i shall sign on at the jobcentre but am wondering what sort of help is available-i feel very worried about how i will pay my rent and bills if i do not work. I am very worried and any advice would be very helpful!

thank you in advance.

no..but i cannot handle it. The thought of doing a busy service as a chef makes me feel sick and anxious...then i feel guilty for being unable to handle it...

today im making a doctors appointment...i cant carry on like this...

I think you need to tell him that and ask for some time off work if he doesnt suggest it first

Ive already quit my job and am so scared and unsure what to do...

im thinking-

see the doctor and sign on with jobcentre.

after that-no idea?

I find i feel much more anxious than normal...i felt really anxious yesterday in the busy supermarket...felt like i was constantly in the way and was tempted to leave but managed to finish my shopping and go...

im sorry if im rambling...its just im not sure how to progress..ive always been able to grit my teeth and get on with it..now im finding it very difficult...

I would guess that if the doctor thinks you are unable to work for a while you would need to take a sick note to the job centre.  I'd suggest going to see the CAB too as they ought to know what rights you have and what money you can claim from where

Thats a good idea...I shall make a doctors appointment today and sign on at the jobcentre...

then i shall contact CAB another day (i do not want to overwhelm myself and feel even worse)

thank you for listening and for the advice...

Hope you get on OK, if you have problems with benefits and things someone here might know more than I do

Everyone knows how awful being depressed is and will help as much as they can
