Cant cope
« on: July 13, 2012, 09:22:25 PM »
I am currently suffering from severe anxiety and depression and am struggling to cope with each day. My partner of 14 years has decided to leave me because my problems are too much for him to cope with and he feels he can't have the life he wanted whilst he is with me. We have 2 kids aged 10 and 12. I don't know where to start with how I am going to cope alone. I just keep thinking that I will lose my mind with all this worry and that I will never be able to pick myself up and get out of depression this time. Has anyone out there got any advice? I feel like I will end up in hospital and not be able to be a mother to my children.

I agree with Zaf, the citizens advice can help you with benefits and where you stand legally. You have to think of yourself and your children. Do you have family to help with support. This is an awful thing to happen to you. But you can and will get through it %^% for you. S x x x x

Thank you for your advice, I will contact the CAB. To be honest though I'm more concerned about my depression and anxiety as they seem to have spiralled out of control. I have been hysterically crying and have heavy and trembly legs. How on earth can I get enough of a grip to get through this? I keep thinking I will end up in hospital and they will pump me full of drugs. It's bedtime now and I am dreading how I am going to cope in the morning. As you probably know, it is the hardest part of the day :(

I wonder if its worth considering getting in touch with your out of hours doctor to ask for something to help through this weekend as you are possibly suffering from scock as well as worsening symptoms of depression

What Zaf suggests is a good idea.  The last thing they would want to do is put you in hospital, but something to help you calm down would help.

I have some Valium, but rarely take it. Maybe I should - do you think it might help?

As long as you take it as prescribed to you, then yes I would take it.  It will help to ease your anxiety and help you sleep  %^%.

I am such a baby when it comes to taking meds, I always panic that they will make me worse or send me looney.

I take it the valium was prescribed to you.  I don't like taking meds either so you are not alone.  Just concerned that you are feeling so bad.  Maybe calling the out of hours dr would be the best idea.  This way they can advise you what the best thing to do is.

I have meds for when I get in a state and hate taking them too, why not try a half dose and see if it helps?  Thats what I do  xx

Hi Martha. The mornings are notoriously bad when depressed and well documented.  Might you be able to have a lie in possibly?  I normally just have a really strong cup of coffee and browse the net to take my mind of things.  Or lie in the bath for ages.  Sometimes if I am not looking after my son I just go back to bed for an hour or so.  Also when I have taken my dose of venlafaxine I tend to perk up a bit.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.  Although I would say maybe take a small dose of valium, if prescribed, just to calm you down and help sleep.

I think mornings are worse for everyone with depression, the start of yet another day and all that; for me the mornings are also bad as it is only when I wake up that I realize my son has gone forever and I will never see his smiling face again. :'(
