New meds
« on: July 11, 2012, 05:25:15 PM »
Just got back from my GP. Coming off of 45mg mirtazapine over the next week then starting on 20mg Paroxetine. Don't know what to expect over the next couple of weeks but the mirtazapine was just not making any difference or so it seems. Might be wrong and scared that I am going to feel even worse over the next couple of weeks or so.

I hope the med change works for you, Willow.   I was prescribed it over ten years ago and found that it was perhaps the strongest of the SSRIs so had to come off it after a couple of months.  It did work for me but the side effects were quite prominent, but that is not to say it won't help you.  Sometimes I find a med change can give me a positive boost for the hope something new may work.

All the best

I went the other way, came off seroxat to go on mirtazapine. I had some severe side effects like Beet, but it does work. Hope you're ok on it x

Willow, everyone is different, just make sure you know what to look for and speak to your GP if you're worried x

Well one very embarrassing one for a man, the decreased ability to, well you know what.  Seriously it could take upto an hour and then it wasn't much. :-[

Trouble sleeping, feeling wired were the others.  But everyone is different and it could very well be a good med for you.

Hope it works out.

Been on Paroxatine for twelve days now so still early days. My sleep has gone downhill without the sedating effect of the mirtazapine :(  although I haven't had too many side effects.

Weirdly though I woke up this morning feeling more energetic than I have in a long time. I made the most of this and rushed round catching up on some long overdue housework but now I feel exhausted, low and desperate.........bed is looking like the only place for me now......

From feeling relatively good to feeling absolutely crap in the space of a few hours  *^*

That's one lesson I learnt the hard way too. I used to feel better then go mad cleaning etc. Then suffer for it. I now space things out. Make sure I rest for part of the day. Hope you feel better tomorrow. S x x x x
