My experience is that citalopram can work very well. I have been taking it for many years and have lots positives I could point to.
The early days seem to be different for everybody. I noticed improvements far quicker than I was told to expect, but I know some people have had a terrible time settling in to it.

citalopram is a ssri , there are a few your doc would be able to try if this dont work. There used because of easy tapper from 1 ssri to another without a wash out process.All meds have side effects so dont give up if you get a few, dont forget you have a med entering your brain to sort you out so its bound to be bumpy to start with
