I don't find myself too affected by the weather. I seem to get quite depressed when I go on holiday, which is quite strange and January has previously been a difficult month but that was back when I cared about Xmas; it always seemed such a detached time of the year. Now there's no real correlation.

When I first split from my ex and was made homeless I went to Italy for 5 weeks, it was winter. While the nights were cold out there, down to -2C, it was sunny during the day. I realised this helped my mood somewhat. As soon as I arrived back in UK in mid Jan. I got very depressed again, not so much the cold as the constant gloom. I dont think if its sunny my mood suddenly improves and I feel well and un-depressed but it certainly helps. So far we have a crap summer and its not helping. It was the one thing I was looking fowards to

I'm convinced the miserable summer this year is hindering my recovery  :(

i know what u mean. when i went through my bad time earlier this year i had a few weeks off work just when i started medication and the weather was great. really made a big help. thing is now im fully prozaced it doesnt really bother me so much and i find it quite amusing hearing others go on about it. so is it state of mind or does it really effect us? i guess anyone is happier in the sun then the rain unless of course your living with draught caused famine or had a plane crash in the saharah!

It may be partly a state of mind but research has shown that in summer in the very hot parts of the US people also suffer from SAD and they attribute that to folks staying indoors out of the sunshine to take advantage of the air conditioning

hey guess what Zaf? Rain again here! I often think the reason for higher suicide rates in Northern countries ie England, Scotland and Scandanvian countries is due to long winters and lack of sun. I also wonder if thats why the is more alcoholism in those places too. I found in Italy people drank alot less than here.

Oh no :(    Its brightened up here a bit but vey humid.

I think you're right about that, the shorter days and rubbish weather are most likely the cause
