what can i do for my kids?
« on: May 23, 2012, 10:36:34 PM »
because of my depression i find it hard to make friends and i don't have much family either, so my kkids don't really have any wee friends to play with outside of school which always makes me feel really guilty because i feel like it's not normal that they have a mum like me,that they deserve to have a mum who can socialise with people and make friends with other mums or dads soo they can make wee friends. i just don't no what to do! :(

They have you and they have each other, and that's worth all the friends in the world and then some. I know how you feel - I have often felt guilty that perhaps my girls are missing out socially due to their parents' mental health and social phobias. After a period of isolation we gradually got them invloved with clubs like brownies and judo, and that helped. But like I said, their best friends are each other, and maybe that's the best thing - friends come and go but siblings can be friends for life (albeit that they seem like enemies half the time!)...take care and don't be too hard on yourself :)

How old are your kids? If they're old enough could you enrole them in cubs or brownies, so they get to meet other kids but you don't have to socialise? Lots of local churches run all sorts of groups for all ages of kids so maybe you could check those?

Kids are more resilient than we think. I'm sure they're happy &*(

thanks for your comments it's good to know that i'm not the only one to feel like this sometimes. one has just turned four the other will be three soon, i don't think i have any brownies clubs or anything in my area, i'll have to do a bit of research on it but it's good idea to try an get them into a wee club of some sort thanks  ;
Don't feel to bad today just some days are worse than others as you probably all know.

In this IT age making friendship is not difficult. But find out a true friend is really difficult in this commercial age.
