Hi, I've Been Here Before....

But not for a long time.  I'll make more sense later, possibly tomorrow.  Everything seems to be... not quite falling apart.... but certainly hanging by a thread.

To save anyone searching for any previous posts, here's a summary:

I'm a failed mathematician;
Failed physicist;
Successful crime scene examiner[1];
Successful musician[2].
I have a deep revulsion of all "business"; suits and the stock market; shares and pensions; goals and "what do you want to achieve?"; where do you want to be in 5 years?; targets and competition; etc.  If there's one thing which will totally and instantly demotivate me totally, it's giving me a "target".

[1] I took voluntary redundancy from my job with the Police for a number of reasons which I'll discuss happily later.  I was damn good at my job!
[2] Bass player in a gigging rock/pop/originals covers band.  It's just beer tokens, but I love it.

I'm on Venlalic, probably for the rest of my life.

Hello!  The band is awesome!  I don't mean they're/we're awesome, I mean, I love it.  We're ok really.  We try to do a slightly different set from your regular pub band.  We do covers by the Kinks, the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jackson, Cream, Deep Purple, Paul Weller.... etc.....  plus some originals by our singer, who is an established singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist in his own right.  I'm just the bass player.  The way I explain it is; you can sing or hum along to the words of a song, you can whistle or hum the melody.  But what makes you tap your feet, what makes you dance, what you FEEL, that's me.  That's what I do.  I'm the bass player.
