Seeing my GP this afternoon
« on: April 10, 2012, 01:48:43 PM »
I managed to get an emergency appointment with one of the nicer GPs at my practice.  I am in a bad state today.  After putting in a greivance for bullying at work HR rung me earlier to offer me a choice:  either have an 'informal chat' with the area manager or lodge an official complaint.    I'm going to lodge a complaint when I ring back.  I'm going to get the GP to sign me off as I am in no fit state to do anything.  When will this bloody end?  All my life I have been ridiculed and pushed around I really have had enough but I don't know what to do.  I feel like such a f*** up and I wish I wouldn't wake up in the morning.  Depression is never far away in my life there are times when I think I have beaten it only for it to come back with avengence.  I know one day it is going to kill me.

Well done for ringing the dr and get an apointment, this is your first positive step to getting yourself better.  I hope it goes ok for you.

Good for you for lodging a complaint at work, these people should not get away with their awful behaviour.

That's really good that you got yourself an appointment with your GP hope all goes well.

I had to sign off work for 4 months due to my depression and now in the same situation again not in a fit state to do anything.

Hope all goes well at the doctors, keep us informed :)

Thank you for all your comments, you really are lovely people. :)

Just got back from the GP and it went really well, told him everything and he signed me off for 3 weeks and we had a brief chat about what has been going on  He is a really nice softly spoken man and not intimidating like others can be.  He also prescribed me a small supply of valium 2 mg just to take the edge of things when needed.

Then I had to ring one of my managers.  But it was the decent one who I get on with ok.  He said he had never had depression and asked what it was like, ie was it similar to grieving?  I said in a way, and you don't have much interest in anything.  Anyway today was a hard day but it's done now.  I'll be trying to see my pdoc sometime this week as well.

I'm glad your doctor signed you off, sounds like you need it and that everything went alright with your manager. Hope you start feeling a bit better soon xx

that sounds good Beetzart,

It's always good when you find a GP that you can connect with, and it's great that you have a manager who seems genuinely interested/caring......

Positive feedback,

Glad you spoke to your GP I'm very pleased it is hard to get it out but you did well done :)
It is also really good that you can connect with him when you have problems it will be easier to talk to him about.

The next few weeks you can chill and relax take things easy.

Take care
