I hate that "get a grip" statement. This is usually made by someone who has never suffered from depression or has had mild or normal off days.
To me depression related illnesses are like being stuck on the side of a mountain hanging from your fingers. You hold on for your life trying to "get a grip" but when you look down you see certain death and when you look up the top is so far away you feel you can never reach it.
Get a grip!!! That's all any of us want or need to do but when your clinging on with what seems your entire body weight against your finger tips its a choice between climbing up to the top or just letting go.
This forum isn't anything special, it has no miracle cures but it does have the advantage of people who know that sometimes to "get a grip" you need a bunk up. Someone to help you up the mountain so you can get to the top.
My advice, take the pills, start a notepad and don't ever be ashamed or embarressed to come here and seek support, its always here, its unconditional. Its anonymous and its free :)
All the best
