I can really relate
« on: March 18, 2012, 08:33:57 AM »
Just me doing my almost daily natter. It's amazing how many of us have identical symptoms in terms of thoughts, feelings etc.
For so many years I had this cloak of shame regarding my thoughts, I would practically watch every thought I had.
Now I am steadily getting my head around the idea that's it's part of the illness/condition. Online support is proving to be just as effective.
What I like about this is that you know you wont get a person or friend telling you "pull yourself out of it" or get a grip etc.
Does anyone go to a support group, I used to a wee while ago - what are your experiences with them

Our nearest support group is about 35 miles away so I dont go :(

Its very noticeable that most of our sympoms/ thought are very similar

Did go to an anxiety course at our MIND centre a few years ago, still meet up for coffee once a week with a friend I met there.

I also find this forum comforting as people here really understand how I feel.

No, being in a room full of people I don't really know isn't my cup of tea.

BUT...... my closest friend has had depression, and we meet up 2/3 times a week for a natter, she's the only person who gets it. We're going out for lunch soon with another mutual friend who is currently suffering with anxiety too (we're keeping the NHS busy between us). So that's as good a support group as it gets really.

I thank my lucky stars for friends like these  £$%

I think that this forum is the best support I've had. I can come here even when I'm hiding under the magic duvet, when i'm scared to go outside, when I look terrible, I can come and share and support others or come and just be here on my worst days. No-one looks at me, no-one judges me and everyone understands. I feel like I'm amongst friends. I wouldn't get this support anywhere else

This place was a godsend to me when I found it and now hopefully I can help others when I feel OK
