Hi, another new member
« on: March 10, 2012, 02:45:47 AM »
Hi,

I have been looking about these forums and there seems like some great people about  :)

I'll be totally honest, I am looking for some advice and some support. My partner of nearly two years suffers from depression and has done ever since I have known her. I have so many questions in my mind about everything from the symptons to how best to cope with the withdrawal and just how to keep it together myself !

I love this woman so very much but the last few months have been really tough. From all the reading I have done so far I know that the best way I can help her is to stay well myself. But I'm struggling to keep it together at the moment.

Hey hoo onwards and upwards  :)

Hi sweetpotato

I hope that you do receive the help you need from this site.

I was diagnosed with depression 5 years ago when I was only 6 months into a new relationship. I am so thankful that my partner stood by me through the really rough times. I don't think that I'll ever be able to express how grateful I am for all the support that he has given me over the years. In the early months of my diagnosis I was so consumed by the way I was feeling that I never considered how hard it must be for him to watch me fall to pieces. I would often sob my heart out in the early hours of the morning when my thoughts were at their darkest. He would simply hold me until I couldn't cry anymore and I would fall asleep. This meant so much more than words. There really was nothing that anyone could say to me at that time that could pull me out my depression. Just knowing that I had someone there that loved me was the most important thing.

The above might not be of any help to you, as everyone's experience of the illness will be different, but I thought that I would share my experience with you.

Wishing you all the best

Solo
