what is for the best!!???
« on: February 15, 2012, 12:53:14 PM »
Well I've been to the doc today and after a complete mot by blood test alls come back clear.
The doctor I saw wasn't my usual and he was actually as useful as a chocolate tea pot! Asked him where I go from here especially work related issues as it seems I have a month or so where I'm good then it all gets on top of me and I have this burnout and I'm signed off for a week or so. I've been off for a week now and work have called and because this doc wouldn't sign me off anymore I have to go back tomorro! Still feeling horrendous, knackered, strugging to keep my eyes open, teary and weak and achey! All the doc said was 'u can either work or be a stay at home mum' which I suppose seems like an easy decision, but for some reason its not easy at all!! Feeling very stressed out!

My reaction to your doctor is unprintable - I would seriously suggest you change your GP if you possibly can xx

I agree with Zaf.  I would make another appointment with your usual gp.

:o that is despicable behaviour. Definitely get to see your usual GP as soon as you can, I'd consider making a complaint too.

I echo what the others say, my doc was awful so I changed my gp and find him to be very considerate. Hope things work out x

Agree with the others and it's quite patronising.  Just because you are a mother doesn't mean that it's the easy option to stay at home.

I did wonder if it was me being over sensitive or not! I don't really know what I expected him to say about work though, its not his decision or problem really. Just wish someone would tell me what to do and tell me all will be ok!!
I went into work today, but it was all hectic so didn't get to speak to my boss. And then someone told me one of my mental health clients wouldn't have anyone else in his house while I was off and so that made me feel bad, so decided sod it ill just soldier on and deal with it all if I ever get to breaking point again.

Your gp should not have spoken to you like that, that was very disrespectful. I suggest you make a complaint, perhaps you will get an apology? If not change gp's (if it has upset you enough). If he spoke like that to me, I would have told him there and then that he was disrespectful. :(.

I'm very lucky, my gp has given my two months of work now (in total). I only work part time (11 hours a week) and I'm a student, so my work doesn't really care that I am off. Some doctors do not believe in mental health, they take a biomedical approach rather than a biopsychosocial approach. Find one that understands you.

Take care x
