Curious - weight loss
« on: January 22, 2012, 08:29:37 PM »
Im doing alot better than i was a few weeks ago, but i find everyday i have to make an effort to get up and act 'normal'.  Alot of people have said to me exerice is the key to a healthy mind, now i know its a polite way of saying loose weight. Im a big girl but i wouldnt go as far as say huge. Either way im comfortable with me weight, i dont mind being bigger what i do mind is feeling like im being bullied by the world to loose weight. But 'people' say it would be for my own good to be 'healthy' and it has nothing to do with the what i 'look' like but heres the thing... being bombared with those ads ( ur waste shud be this size), shows like 'I used to be fat', 'operation tranformation', 'biggest looser' (the list is endless), i feel im being bullied. When im depressed these thing send me over the edge, they are what makes me unhealthy to some extent, the way they talk about the way they 'used' to be...vile, walking mountains etc, i think hey thats me now. Honestly they arent looking out for peoples health ( the few selected for the show sure) surely they get that by helping a few they are offending/insulting many. Yes i get skinny people can have a better/longer lifes but in the grand scheme of things, cancer, accidents etc dont discriminate. So why single out this one health aspect, when it can hurt so many.  I dont know if im explaining myself very well but im just curious if any one feels the same as me about these ads & shows?? Day to day is hard enough without having to be reminded the way i look isnt socially acceptable. I think the world is obessed with weight loss right now...

just think if your slimmer you have more energy to get stuff = reduced depression and feel great that's my logic

its not always that easy emmietaylor, some of us have issues with food or other medical complaints that mean losing weight is incredibly difficult :(

Sallas, I'm with you on this one.  I am a biggish girl and would love to lose weight but then something comes along and it all goes a bit pear shaped.  Luckily I have a lovely GP who when I said I would like to lose weight said 'lets get you well first'.

Sometimes it might be possible that you dont feel that you are overweight but after few years pass, you might face many health problems and diseases. That time it is necessary for you to lose your weight so you would be more active and comfortable. Then you might be eager to know curious ways to lose your weight. It is better to keep yourself busy in exercise routine and regular work outs along with low fat diet.

I have changed various medications, tried various diets, nothing works.

I'm coming to think until I sort my head out I can't sort my waste line. I have issues with food and was borderline anorexic when I was younger. I'd swap for that any day.

Medications screw with your system, I have very little time for diet and exercise to be honest. I'm a keen dog walker, agility addict. All my food choices are low calorie. At the moment I've just threw the towel in. It's the last thing I need to be concerned about.

If you are comfortable in yourself, that's all that matters.
I am only me. That is all I can be.
No more, no less, don't second guess.
I love, I live, I laugh, I cry.
I've wished sometimes that I could die.
Some days I'm funny, others I'm not.
Sometimes I'm in overdrive, and I can't stop.
You may not like me, but that's ok, because this is me and how ill stay.

Leo, I agree with you.  I have tried just about every diet under the sun, some better than others but for me the good effects don't last.  I take regular exercise such as walking my dogs but am restricted when my arthritis is bad.  The only 'diet' that works for me is when I'm severely depressed as I can barely eat anything which isn't healthy.  I've resigned myself to eating healthily such as cutting out fried food, junk food, smaller portions and eating more fruit, veg and salads.
