Please i need advise with my wife suffering from depression

Thankyou for the link. It has shown me a whole new perspective on depression in terms i can understand.

S found something yesterday which distracted her most of the day which is great. Im sure you will of heard of Angry birds, well that is the distraction! Someone challenged her to beat their score and with my wife being competative, off she went. Its nice to see.

Can anyone recommend any good books that S can read that can help? Im not a book reader so i have not got a clue.

Is there anyway i can encourage my wife to talk to me? I know she will when shes ready, but i was wondering if there is an approach that is best. I am there for her physically and im always there to listen to her.

The link Zaf gave you is very good.  I have it on my saved a copy on my laptop.  Glad S found something to distract her, I think thats positive that she could be interested in something.

As for getting S to talk, I personally think you have to wait till she is ready, I found it very difficult to put into words how I felt.  The one word I used was 'Dread'.  I would just wait and leave S to talk about how she feels when she is ready again just let her know you are there for her.

Totally agree with Shaz.

In terms of books, I found it helpful to just read a really light fiction book.  The Guernsey Literacy and Potato Peel Society, is good and no its not as strange as the title suggests.

 I think that your wife suffers from bouts of depression. We have always had a rather up and down relationship.  Is electrolshock therapy something that might work for her!
