Thanks for putting it in :-)

I have put up with S.A.D for 20 years (since I was 15) and its nice that it is taken seriously and that people are willing to share their experiences..  My quest to find the best solution for me continues :-)

That said it would be nice if I could be allowed to hibernate :-)

Personally I think the NHS should send SAD sufferers to a nice warm place in the southern hemisphere for the duration of the winter  ;)

Seriously I think different people find different solutions work for them, this year I'm trying vitimin D supplements as well as my light clock and trying to be outside during daylight as much as I can.

Is SAD common for people who already are prone to depression do you think?
I don't go out half as much as I ought to (this is a new-ish area for me and I don't seem to have found nice places to go for walks!!)

Ah okay.... your alarm clock sounds good, I guess there is no harm in trying light therapy even if you don't have SAD although apparently you have to be careful with depression / bipolar before using light therapy for some reason...

Yeah I was looking at the review of some of them on Amazon and they said ask your GP if you have depression or bipolar....

I think it might be to do with some meds, they can make your skin more sensitive to light.

Aaaah okay!
Yes that makes sense.
Also, there seems to be a lot of evidence for depression and bipolar being linked to issues with circadian rhythms so perhaps you can cause more issues for yourself, I don't know?

I was also wondering about serotonin levels, some bipolar people get high in the spring due to the increase in light etc and are more prone to depression in the winter months.

Yes true.
I really can believe depression is heavily connected to circadian rythm, this whole "feeling awful in the morning" and "okay at night" seems to show their is a problem with your biological clock for sure!

It would seem logical. I must admit I haven't done a lot of reading around this, think I might have a look on the Internet.
