Geraniums?
« on: June 16, 2012, 11:12:14 AM »
I've got some that are really straggly now, will they grow back if I cut them back hard, after the failure of the clematis cuttings I'm a bit nervous of trying that again!

Geraniums are quite hardy, and if it was me I would give it a go.  Also giving them a good feed may help them sprout again.

Thanks Munchroom,  I'm going to do a test prune as each one stops flowering

I'd be tempted to take cuttings as well (really easy to do - but you need the hormone powder to dip them in) that way you get new plants too  :)

Its best to cut stragley bits down, the geranium is very hardy.  I find the best geraniums are of cuttings from  mature plants. I just did some.  Plonk em in water for a few weeks and watch the roots grow.  No growth powder needed, they are soooo easy

Thanks, I'll try that too, I've got some lovely varieties with scented leaves but they are definitely in need of some attention
