Life insurance
« on: October 01, 2019, 07:36:31 PM »
Pip approved the link in this message and I just want to pass on my good experience is all.

I've been thinking of getting life insurance recently 'cos I'm not getting any younger or healthier and I'd rather not leave Steve (my long-suffering hubby) in the lurch when I kick the bucket.

I saw an ad on Facebook this afternoon for somewhere called Reassured (www.reassured.co.uk or 0808 168 2025 if you prefer using the phone) offering life insurance starting at 20p a day and figured it couldn't hurt to go and have a look, after all I wouldn't be taking it on considering that the previous life insurance quotes I'd had were for £124 a month minimum for the most basic cover.  There's no way I could afford that and didn't have anything better to do, so I filled in the form for a quote.

Within a few minutes my mobile rang and Truecaller didn't flag it as spam or anything so I answered it.  A bloke called Luke from Reassured was on the other end.  He explained that Reassured are an insurance broker who compare insurers for the best rate possible and it didn't faze him one bit when I said I was totally effed up both mentally and physically.

By the end of the call, he's applied to an insurer for a 40 year life insurance cover and, despite my various illnesses and disabilities, it's still under £50 a month that won't increase at all during those 40 years and it was for £300,000 too!  Suicide isn't covered for the first 12 months, but that's OK 'cos I haven't been suicidal for years now!

If you're in the UK (not sure about the rest of the world, sorry) and think that life insurance is too expensive, give Reassured a try... if I can get so much cover for under £50, imagine what you can get for the same price!

Just heard back from Reassured... yesterday's insurer rejected the application so they contacted a specialist insurer who are happy to look at my application, just a touch more expensive at £50 a month but it's not their fault and there are more insurers to try so I'm not giving up yet!

As of now I've got life insurance  :thud:.  I'm covered until my 70th birthday then it stops, which is fair enough.  Mental health stuff isn't covered for the first 12 months, but assuming nothing happens in the next 12 months I'm fully covered for everything, even though I is totally screwed up mentally and physically.

It's £32 a month and just the reassurance that I'm not leaving Steve with any nasty bills when I take my final breath, is worth it alone!   :happy0158:  Couldn't have done it without Lucy's determination though - I'd have given up long before now if it wasn't for Lucy!

Definitely follow that link in the first message in this thread... if they cover me after less than a week and maybe 4 phone calls, then there's no reason they won't cover you too!   :happy0158:
