Hi there,

I am writing this because I literally feel I have no where else to turn and I am hugely struggling.

I resigned from my job in June and for whatever reason I have not managed to find another job. I have split up with my girlfriend and am sofa surfing with no money, no job and right now no life - well that's what it feels like.

I have been prescribed Cilatopran (excuse spelling) which I changed, then Mirtazapine from which I suffered horrble side affects and I am now taking 75mg of Venlafaxine twice a day. I am also not sleeping and have to take Temazapan to get any kind of sleep.

I feel like my world has literally ended and right now I think nothing else of ending my life. I have been referred to the crisis team who at one point were seeing me every day.

My brain is imploding and all I can do is think about the fantastic life I once had and the pain of that feels like it is killing me a little bit more every day. Every thing seems black, I can't seem to do anything at all but sit blankly and or pace all day.

The medication isn't working (that is what it feels like) I am doing nothing to help myself and am scared I will do something stupid like take all my sleeping pills or jump off a bridge which seems the easier option right now.

Apologies for the long intro message.

Hi mate.

I know how it feels. I spent the last six months feeling like my world had ended...had crises team etc. Just wanted to end it all.

Hang on in there, because after a period of time your mind can start to adjust, and you can start to look for more possitive ways out of this.

In the mean time, take each day as it comes.

Hi and welcome.

It sounds like you have had some tough times to overcome of late so im not surprised you feel so low. All I can say right now is to hang on. As said above the meds will take time to work but even then things will likely need more time to settle down - a lot has happened to you.

Try if you can to break things down and tackle one problem at a time. To look at everything at once is a massive hill to climb and one that will seem too big to manage. I would start with a job and focus on that. With more interaction and money in your life you will be able to engage in more activity that could lead to relationships and give you more focus. I realise its not an easy thing to do - especially with how you feel right now, but when things get like they have starting anywhere is going to be tough.

We are here to talk and support you any time you may need us. I hope we can help.

Hi and welcome,

Meds work differently for different people.  I was firstly on Citalopram which worked for 2 years then suddenly stopped.  I then went through a lot of other meds, eventally was referred to Mental Health Team and was prescribed Duloxetine (Cymbalta).  Which worked for me.  That was a few years ago I had been off meds for over a year when depression came back to bite me again, now back on Duloxetine and its working but slowly.  I know I wanted the meds to work like a painkiller and to work straight away, but it doesn't work that way and can take several weeks to fully kick in.  I think talking helps and being on this forum you are not alone, we all understand and there is always someone to offer support and advice.

About 2 weeks but they have not changed my mood. I'm sat alone before midday drinking wine and contemplating the worst.

please see someone or phone the samaritans, drink wont help, as someone that was near alcoholic I can definitely tell you that,  there is light at the end of the tunnel but it sometimes takes a while to find it.

hello. im on Citalaphram 40mg and it took three weeks before i felt any kind of difference. The hardest part is this time because your taking the pills so you think you should be better, and the fact that you arnt, makes you feel like its another failure, another avenue that hasn't worked.

Stick with it for another week. If it still feels the same go to the doctor again. Remember though Meds dont make you happier, they just make you more leveled. So dotn kick yourself when you have bad days and your on the meds.

Sometimes things are getting better but we don't realise it. The drinking could be affecting the tablets too.

You have been through so much in such a short period of time I think you should give yourself time to grieve for your old life and then take stock of whats going on around you.

Please speak to your doctor again. If you can't you can always go to A+E if you explain how you are feeling they will be able to help.

Please try to remember where there is life there is hope. We can help you through this if you let us.
