From Citalopram to Escitalopram
« on: October 20, 2013, 10:15:52 PM »
Been on Citalopram for 5 years, had lots of crap happen recently (see my first post) and just switched to Escitalopram. Is it likely that the Citalopram lost efficacy? I'm just in a bad way and hoping this change helps.

Hello Paul!!
It's been more than a month since this post. I wonder how are you doing? Escitalopram is known to be a step froward on citalopram and I really hope it's working for you!!

hi Paul, i was on citalopram for years, and it was one of the better ones for me, only changed it as i asked the doc for amytriptaline to help with sleep, changed to sertraline as citalopram and amys dont mix.

but back to the question of the citalopram stopping to work, it is quite possible your body has built up a resistance to it. maybe in a year or so your doc could switch you back again.
