RE: This Morning Interview - Reunited With Adopted Son - Pip - 09-29-2026 People who don't have an adoption (or foster care) connection don't understand that the spectrum range of being positive through to a terrible experience which can include abuse. I wanted to raise my son, there weren't any reasons why I shouldn't but obviously I had to be cautious what I said. It was my mother who was determined he would be adopted and it was a forced adoption which is illegal yet for decades social workers got away with it. I didn't know my rights, never saw any paperwork at the time, didn't know I couldn't consent to surrender until he was 6 weeks could not that I ever consented. As it turned out his adoptive parents were nice and tried to make his life as good as possible, they were always honest he had been adopted. He has major issues with adoption and resented the fact that they had their own son when he was 20 months old. We no longer speak as his behaviour could go to extremes when he didn't get his own way and he was in his 20s. I am thankful that I got to know him and will always love him but I don't like the way he treats people when he doesn't get his own way. |
