I think this board has only just started? I found it looking for depression forums cos I'm having an off day and felt like having a rant.

I used to get really depressed but I changed my life, got new friends and things seemed to be looking up but recently I'm struggling and I don't know whether it's because I spent so much of my time being depressed that my brain finds it easy to slip into that state or what.

 :-[ I haven't responded before .... my poor excuse is that I'm the only one posting usually so forget to check to see if anybody else has. This is a fairly new forum though members are gradually joining so hopefully they'll start posting too.

It can be difficult to get out of that cycle of being depressed then struggling to get out of it as I've been there too so know what it's like.

Hello I am sunflower and I get depressed from time to time. There are some good things in my life and some not so good things and I sometimes think more about the bad ones.
I hope that being here might help a bit.

Hold in there Shizuku, I have been suffering from depression for about 4 years now, I drop to points where I think there is no way out, but just give it time and you will find it gets a bit easier. I find that I try and be around friends when I drop too low and they help me forget my problems. If you need someone to chat to just add me to MSN and I will be happy to chat to you.

Shizuku ~ no matter how bleak life seems there is light at the end of tunnel. I have suffered with depression - complicated how it evolved  - and I eventually hit rock bottom in 2005. Fortunately my husband, friends and a very good doctor were there to help me.

Hello, this is my first post on here. I have suffered with depression and anxiety for the past 8 yrs since the death of my father, I have been taking anti depressants for all of this time pretty much. I am going thru another bout just now and have been for a few months but I know it'll pass it always does and then I can get on and enjoy life again. One thing I would like to share with you all is that I have researched a lot into Depression and one thing that helps me is diet, watching what I eat and by this I mean cutting right back on sugar including hidden sugars in foods, no caffeine, low wheat, no alcohol, sounds boring I know but which would you rather? x

Hi and welcome. my husband started suffering with depression after his father died as well which was back in 1983.
