Identifying Causes and CBT
« on: June 18, 2012, 04:32:50 PM »
Hi

I'm new here and wondered if you guys had any tips on how to identify what is causing me to be depressed.

I have been suffering for about 5yrs now and take Citalopram daily.

I have never tried anything apart from the medication and a bit of self taught meditation.

I am trying to get to the bottom of what is causing this feeling and people h e mentioned CCBT, have any of you tried it and do you have any recommendations?

Thanks

I havent tried CBT but have had several courses of counselling over the years, with a good counsellor that you get on with you ought to be able to identify at least some of the causes and find ways of coping with them better

Thanks, something I may look into if the cost isn't too much

I believe MIND can provide counselling and in some cases at a discount.  I was lucky to find someone very locally I really gelled with, not cheap but I didnt think wildly expensive.

I think shaz might know about MIND but she's not on line atm.   My sessions were £30 but I'd guess it depends on the area

Hi.  I did CCBT with MIND. It was free. It was good. But my counselling with MIND was great. It was £35 per session. But reductions if you are on benefit or low income. If you Google MIND you will find your local centre. I have had several different courses with them and each time they have been so helpful and supportive.                 S x x x x
