I agree with you..someone wouldn't not commit suicide if so that they can continue smoking. Its just giving him a list of things you enjoy sounds like you are capable of deriving pleasure out of live, but in reality, and from what you have said on this forum, you are struggling immensely and so why not try to convey that i your letter also?

Yes, Steve, and this may sound perverse but it is the things I like that drive me to feeling suicidal.  When I listen to a bleak piece of music, say Schubert's string quintet 2nd movement, or Tchaikovsky's Symphony 'Pathetic' it makes me feel more suicidal.  Now, obviously, you may think, 'well don't bloody listen to it then!',  but I am compelled to.  When I am depressed the more I want to listen to music that reflects that.

I understand that, I am often the same. I feel useless in comparison to great artists and it makes me feel even more worthless.

Got a reply from my doctor the other day.  It was short but he thanked me for writing and that I have clarified things for him, didn't say what though.  Also, he will endeavour to see me as soon as he can.  In the meantime I have a GP appointment on Thursday so I am going to ask her if she can tweak my meds in some way.
