It was 29C on our patio this afternoon. But our garden is a bit of a sun trap so it tends to be hotter there than everywhere else :)

Guinea pigs and the rabbit weren't too pleased, had to move them into the shade at the bottom of the garden.

Our poor ferrets were layed in in their outside run too, to hot in their bed.

Hopefully it will continue Kate there are so many celebrations planned around the country.

Hot here already today.

Hot here too, the nice sea breeze has dropped so I got the weeding done first thing so I didnt boil, plants all need watering, going to set up a leaky hose system as they're still legal with the hosepipe ban

Walked the girls early but they keep cool by going in and out of the stream, just come in from weeding, tidying up the garden.  Plan to potter about indoors now just putting washing out when its done.  Have all windows, doors open to get the breeze through.

Weeded about a third of the raised bed (like a jungle), only planned to do that much so I dont get too tired or get a backache, helped David get a couple of gravel boards put in at the end of the patio to form a retaining wall (blummin heavy), repotted a few things, want to continue in the garden but the freezer must have defrosted by now so I ought to do that before I run out of steam ::)  will have to water a lot of the plants later

Lets hope summer lasts a bit longer but could do with some rain now - preferably in the hours of darkness ;)

I got a huge bag of weeds too (makes me mad how weeds can grow without water) the chickens had a feast though, they love the dandylions.  Rain at night would be great, water butt getting low now.

I eat my dandelions, they taste good in a salad :)

I hope to get the leaky hose system working tomorrow, David is going to try to get me a whole roll when he goes into town to do his parents shopping, I have lots of short bits but a whole roll would be easier

I remember a friend of mine wanting them years ago as they are good for mastitis.  Must have healthy chooks as they lay well bless them.

Better idea to get a long reel of pipe much easier.

I never realised that, off to consult my herbal books!

I've found one long reel and will see if I can get another from the garden centre, I realy dont want to have to keep watering with a watering can

There seems just so much to water, I want to get this leaky hose system sorted tomorrow as it ought to do a fair bit for me.

I put black plastic over the bit I dug over today to stop it drying out

Pouring again, I had hoped to get the squash planted this evening but I think I'd need an aqualung and flippers to try it now, perhaps I should give up with normal vegs and start growing rice?
