Thankyou

Hi

I was on that (and that dosage) for my last episode of depression. I am on it again now but different dose.

It takes almost a month to start having an effect and I suffered with headaches and feeling really sick during the first 2 - 3 weeks but once it began to work I thought it was fine. It is non addictive so easier to wean yourself off once you decide you no longer need to be on it and it just makes things a little easier and gives you a bit of a break from feeling so crappy.

Ley me know if you have any questions and if I can be of help then I will do my best

Hey,
I am currently taking Citalopram.
I have found that it makes me feel incredibly tired shortly after I have taken it so I try to take the tablet before I go to sleep. I don't feel happy taking the tablets but it keeps me a numb and balanced which is better than the depression.
Good luck x

I had a very nasty experience with Citalopram:  about an hour after taking it, I would get a wave of horrible black despair wash over me, which would last several hours.  The first time this happened it was very alarming, but even once I realised what was causing it, I couldn't put up with the feeling, so after consulting my GP I moved on to something else (Mirtazapine).

But I don't want to put anyone off using it - my experience is, I've no doubt, unusual.

I've tried a few but citalopram is a better one. Its good for the short term but has too many side affects for the long term. It helps but it diminishes your sex drive, you get drunk quicker, you sweat. If your really depressed its good to get you out of it but if you dont change your life when your on them, then you'll probably just need to increase the dose.
