What is the point?
« on: February 08, 2010, 03:13:05 PM »
Desparately trying to find a reason to carry on. But why? Everything is so futile.
Can't hold down a job, the job centre pushing you into any low paid miserable soul destroying rubbish.
Sat here, grey skies outside, wishing I just could pass away in my sleep.

There's not even much point in these forums as hardly anyone ever replies.

Hey - hang in there matey!   I just joined this today - and thought I'd say hi and that you're not alone in how you're feeling.  We need to be strong, because one day something good will happen and you'll look back on this time and be glad.

Hey. Hang in there, things will get better.
Please talk to a health professional - don't feel this wayalone. Surely if you feel this way, you can't work, so the Job Centre idiots (and I've been there) should not push you into work.

There is every reason to carry on, first thing you need to do is get to the doctors and ask for help, believe me i wish i had a long time ago, i wont go into details of how i tried to end my life but my dad was the one that found me and saved my life and i know for a fact he still has nightmares about it, but one thing ive realised since then is that life is worth living and there is hope.

First thing is in your current state of mind you should NOT be working, if your depression affects you the way it does me your motivation will be low, no concentration and rubbish memory, go to your doctors tell him how you are feeling and ask for help, they should be able to refer you to your community mental health team who will assign you a community psychiatric nurse to support you, and can also sign you off work, they will also help to make sure you are on the right medication. Which will mean you will be able to apply for employment and support allowance (its the replacement for incapacity benefit) in turn easing the preassure on you to be looking for work, you may also be able to apply for disability living allowance, i'm now recieving middle rate care component and lower rate mobility component, these things combined will lift a lot of the preassure.

The first thing my cpn said to me was that he loves working with people with depression, which if i'm honest i thought was a bit strange until he told me why, the reason..... because he knows people with depression given the right treatment WILL get better, it may be a long process but once your heads in the right place its so much easier to function, which if i'm honest has given me that optimism i lacked before. I hope that this has helped you a little, and if you want to ask me anything feel free, and please dont give up
