Depression

Depression is a thing that we don’t understand,
It dwells within the mind of each and every man,
If truth we ever found then we could get it right,
Our brain would be at peace and wouldn’t put up a fight.

But somewhere in our make up,
We let it bother us,
And when we’re over anxious,
We kick up such a fuss.

If we could just relax in every kind of way,
Sit down and count the joys that we have every day,
With Jesus just beside us to give us extra strength,
Then it would be much easier to go about each day.

My mother in law wrote it and a few years after she died I was given the honour of typing all her poetry up for the family.  She was a real character with a great sense of humour.  She was also a Christian and she used to read some of her poetry out to me but it wasn't until after her death we realised how many serious poems 'mum' wrote, some of them deep and spiritual.  It's helped to keep her memory alive and happy memories at that.  'Mum' wrote about close family members and actual experiences which makes me smile even now.
