Hello
« on: March 10, 2014, 06:45:10 PM »
Hi everyone

I am new here although not to depression, although I only went to my doctors in Oct last year I have been feeling it since my son was born 3 years ago.

Eventually it got too much I didn't want to get out of bed, I kept thinking something terrible was going to happen all the time.

First the dr put me on citalopram  but the side affects where too bad so we went to fluroxetine 20mg then 40mg.

I was then referred to the community mental health team to discuss bi polar but they said no and now I am increased to 60mg feeling a bit low as I don't know when this will stop.

Post natal depression that doesn't disappear in a couple of months can be really bad.  I am glad you have been put in the way of the Community Mental Health Team. I hope that they take you on as a case rather than a one off visit.

You are on the maximum dose of Fluoxetine now but it has a reputation of being a little slower to kick in than some of the alternative drugs.

I hope you get something out of joining here. Just describing what you are going through can help.
Sometimes the light is shining on me
Other times I can barely see
Lately it occurs to me
What a long, strange, trip it's been

Hi pawpatrol,

I was having issues with my laptop yesterday and I help out with a lunch club twice a week so apologise for not welcoming you yesterday.  It can help sharing with others who also suffer with depression,

Hi pawpatrol, welcome to the forums.
there are a load of antidepressents around, some work better than others for diferent people.
you could look to see if there is a MIND office close to you, they have some great support workers, and may have other ideas for you.

Hello and welcome  :bye:. You are not alone feeling the way you do. The meds can take a while to work, I know when I was first diagnosed and prescribed meds I wanted them to work straight away, but it takes time,  are you still under the mental health team? I personally found them very good but of course it varies to where you live. MIND is also very good as Stuart has already said. If you Google them you can find your nearest center.
