Just saying Hi.
« on: August 14, 2010, 11:46:06 AM »
Hi,

My name is Ellie, I live in Northern Ireland, age is unimportant as I still feel 18 in my head.
Been diagnosed with severe Depression and prescribed Citalopram, (which is only 1 mth in and not helping)

So many things happened to me during my life, each one attributed to my current state I believe.
Doctors don't have time to delve into it all, so am 'here' hoping to reach out and find some conclusion to this torment.

I don't wish to divulge too much here and am willing to 'chat' if anyone wants to 'befriend' me. Tis ok.

I kinda describe my mood in weather terms.. so today is thunderous with sunny outbreaks.
Failure is not suceeding while trying, failure is not trying again..ever.

Hi Ellie, welcome to the forum  +=-

I completely understand. I too, have gone through a lot and this is what has caused me to suffer from Depression & Anxiety. I'm on Citalopram too! I know that it might seem like they aren't working at the moment, but if you can just try to keep taking them, you might start noticing improvements!

Also, in the first month or so, Citalopram, or most anti-depressants can make you feel worse for the first month or so, so bear that in mind, and seek support at this time if you can!

Feel free to open up as much as you want on here, people are always willing to listen and I can promise you, you will find support and hopefully some good advice on here!

And I understand your mood, depression can make you feel up and down all the time!

I'm always here to listen, so if you ever need someone to talk to, just send me a message or something  :)
Also, I wrote a post (quite long though hah) a few months ago on how I've been feeling and stuff, it might help you by reading it maybe. It's in the One step at a time forum! Take care Ellie  %^& xxx

Hi Ellie
Nice to hear from you.
I also suffer from depression and anxiety due to some of my life events.
I hope you find it helpful on this forum and find friends who understand too.
Take care.

Thankyou Ashleigh, it means a lot when others share the realness of what's going on.

I may post a little or a lot. I have been encouraged to 'talk' about what all happened to me. But I'm not sure it would help.. others say to just put it all behind you and get on with you life.. again easy to say not so much to do.

I have been on citalopram for a month.. gone through the hyper talking and action stage and the zombie stage.. now seem to be entering the paranoia and panic stage. Obviously not everyone experiences the same things. It is very unnerving and annoying at the same time to feel as you do. You want to run away and not speak ever again. Then suddenly you crave company but still dont want to speak to anyone.. then you talk and talk even to yourself.

Currently its sunny intervals today.. with odd bits of darkening cloud... a reasonable day.
Failure is not suceeding while trying, failure is not trying again..ever.

Hi Ellie
I think it is a good thing that you want to talk about things.
It's not a good idea to put things behind you until you have dealt with them.
I have learn't that too. My depression started from ill health and then progressed on to social anxiety.
Maybe as a result of my medication. I feel isolated but i also need company too. It's very confusing at times.
I also liken my moods to the weather, it seems very fitting.
Take care
Ashleigh
