Depression in the work place
« on: April 06, 2010, 10:49:29 AM »
Does anyone else find that going to work gives you a purpose for getting up in the morning, my doctor has signed me off work and i'm finding it really hard to even function like there's no point. Do you know what i mean?

Most definitely. I find the act of forcing yourself to go somewhere, even if you don't want to go, lessens some of the negative thoughts you have. Distractions take over your thoughts now and again which can make you feel a bit better. I find that forcing yourself to do something (even when you don't want to) makes you feel better than waiting to feel better before doing something (which may never happen).

It does give me a reason to get up every morning and i suppose i feel better for doing it, if i had nothing to focus on i suppose the depression might get worse but also feel like i do need a bit of time off at the moment, try to give yourself some time to rest but maybe you could give yourself little nice jobs to accomplish each day, my nice job at the moment when i have a day of no work is making an area in my garden for my new ducks to live in, still takes alot to get me motivated into doing it but feel better when iv done a bit :)
