Wrong impressions
« on: February 18, 2012, 10:29:00 AM »
Before I had depression I always had a  particular view of it.
You were living in constant darkness. Not able to communicate with anyone. On the edge of suicide. A zombie !
How wrong could I be ?
Ask 95% of the people who know me and they wouldnt connect me and depression !
The other 5% ? Very close to me and they know the truth.
I have got to say that depression really wears me out !
Trying so hard to appear " normal " that I come home from work and just want to collapse !

Trying to be normal and pretend things are ok is absolutely exhausting

Wow, I didn't even realise, that's exactly how I feel , I work with families to get them help and the amount of people suffering with depression is crazy and I'm there as a professional suffering myself pretending to be normal, makes me laugh sometimes

yup, holding that "normal" persona is absolutely exhausting. If people only knew how draining it really is and how it affects you in ways they cannot imagine, then it would be slightly easier. Unfortunately until you have gone through it there is no way of understanding its devastating effects.

My partner has been getting cheesed off with me thinking that I cone home and look so depressed and that I make an effort for everyone else and not her, this explains why I'm like that when I get home.
